Let’s be clear on one thing: grinding on monsters is not exactly really, really fun. However, what these monsters drop can be fun. But there is one dilemma here: drops from monsters are sporadic at best, rarely giving you exactly what you want.

This is mainly what this video guide is based upon, grinding on monsters to get pricey drops. Although it is a great way to level up your combat levels, this technique cannot be completely counted on as a way to make continual money.

However, what I really like about this guide is that it is thorough: showing what weapons to use, what armor is best, and the best way to kill these monsters (also, the monsters listed to kill are great). This leads to another issue: a good half of these are for members. Great for members, not so much for non-members.

Yet this video gives an excellent suggestion for beginners to make money: Mining pure and regular rune essence (aka rune ess). Mining rune ess is very profitable and can be a great start for someone looking to make some cash. Rune ess tends to be stable on the Grand Exchange and there is almost always a demand for it.
